Rummage Sale
Steve Ongsyping
On May 14, Turkish great Köprülü attacked 120,000 Donau soldiers. But more importantly, it was the day of the rummage sale: the day we earned thirty seven thousand. A long tradition or rather fundraiser for ABM for the past few years, the rummage sale, a.k.a. the ukay-ukay, once again became the stage for ABM’s future activities. It was held simultaneously at Forbes Park, Makati and at Teacher’s Village along Maginhawa, last May 14, a Saturday, just after payday. Even earlier than this, ABM’s rummage sale already began outside the tambio with the IB staff as our customers.
It was bound to be a success, due to the overwhelming support it received, where over 10 balikbayan boxes were packed. Inside those boxes were toys, clothing, palamuti, and more clothing; inside those boxes, was cash amounting to thirty seven thousand pesos. Of course, more than the money earned, it was also fulfilling to see the smiles on our customers, knowing they had made a good deal. And for all these, we have to thank those who made this possible: those who donated rummageables (if you could call them that because they were all nice and some even came with tag prices; you know who you are) and those who helped out (you also know who you are). However, if money were that easy, ABM would not have to invest it on several of the upcoming events. Until next time, let us rejoice in our success, and hope for many more to come.
